Sharing Our Lives:
So Long, Farewell to the Nubian Nation
by Kim
Submitted July 2001
Unlike, Some women I did not know I was gay. I came out in the year of
1999, shortly after I left the Nubian Nation. Well to make a long story
short, I got a job working outside the Kingdom aka Nation. I worked at a
bank and that is where my life took a turn. I met this one female who
till this day is my best friend. I did not talk to people on the job. I
just used to read and meditate. One day this sista asked me to eat lunch
with her and I accepted. We talked and found out we had some things
in common with each other. It was to good to be true, we clicked so well
together. So every day we ate lunch with each other and before you knew
it months went by and our friendship bonded into a stronger bond. She
said her birthday was coming the 1st of September and she asked if I would
go to this party with her. One of her other friends was throwing my
friend Tee a party. I said yes I would go to celebrate her birthday with
her. Well the day had come and we pulled up on the scene. At this house
there was nothing but women. They were openly hugging and kissing each
other on the mouth. I was so shocked at what was going on that I told
her that I was going to leave. That is when she told me that she is gay
and is not out on the job or other people. She said she did not know
how to tell me. So she waited until her birthday. I felt too close to her
to just walk out of her life. So I shortly got over it and had an alright time.
I don't want to blame it on drinking ''but what the hell! The party
went on for most of the night. I met all of her friends and they were
cool. Well the night was ending and Tee and me were heading out. Tee
said ''hey it's so late just stay at my house for the night!'' Of course
I said yes.'' We watched TV for a while and then it happened. She
asked if she could sit by me and I said "sure it's a free country so they
say." Tee was like don't start that Nation talk, I was like no she
didn't. Well anyway she sat by me and asked me have I ever been kissed by a
women in that way. I said no. Well before I knew it she pulled up and
kissed me on the lips. I didn't pull away so the second one was longer
and deeper. I knew I was in trouble when I let out a soft moan. She
got excited and started filling me up. She kissed me one more time said
"I've been waiting for three months to do that to you." I liked that new
found pleasure that I felt with another women. Two months later I
painfully left something that I loved deeply, the Nation. Being gay is
not the nubian's way of life. You see I broke my cypher 120 man 120 women
120 baby 360 degrees life completion. I am 27 years of age and I love
living in the life.
