Standing in the grocery lines, the magazines are just sitting there begging you to pick them up and read them: COSMOPOLITIAN, VANITY FAIR, EBONY and JET.
Sitting in the hairdresser, getting my hair cornrowed, the stacks of magazines are calling for me to read them: HONEY and VIBE.
I read these magazines often times I feel left out. I read cosmo and they tell me how to pick up a man, take this what does your man look for in a woman test, and how to improve your sex life. Issues that do not pertain to me. So I feel left out, why read the magazine. It would feel good to feel included, to know that my sexuality is real and it's others like me and we have a common bond. Them magazines give them white women a common bond.
Yes, I read Ebony and I used to read JET. Almost all african americans do. I also read VIBE. Now, I'm included because I am black, but not included cause i'm a lesbian. I Think it's time we have a magazine that caters to black lesbian between the ages of 18 -25. Similar to comso and similar to vibe. COSMO and VIBE with a twist. That's my endeavor. That's what I want to do. But I also have to raise money and also see how the black lesbian community feels about it. Feel free to give me any advice. It doesn't all have to be supportive, although any advice, critical or not would be supportive.
